divorce mediation LAWYERS

While divorce is never an easy experience, new methods of dispute resolution are available and are gaining popularity among couples involved in divorce. Through “alternative dispute resolution”, sometimes referred to as “mediation”, couples can avoid a significant portion of the physical, emotional and financial stress that is often associated with traditional divorce litigation.

With divorce rates high and the court system over-burdened with huge caseloads, more and more couples are turning to mediation, a collaborative process where disputes are resolved through joint negotiation sessions and conversations between spouses, guided by the expert hand of an experienced matrimonial attorney.

A mediator serves as a neutral third party; a sounding board for disputes and an advisor who communicates directly with both parties on potential road-block issues. The mediator does not work for either spouse, but instead is engaged jointly by the spouses to assist in bringing about a resolution that works for the best interest of both parties and their children.

Divorce mediation can help in a variety of ways. It will allow you and your spouse to amicably resolve your divorce without the “bad blood” that remains after adversarial litigation. It saves cost as both parties are represented by one attorney and that attorney works outside of the court system. Time and energy can be saved in not dealing with the disputes, paperwork, expense and emotional toll of litigation. A fair resolution may be achieved for both parties, with transparency and equity.
