Born in Huntington, New York, Janet attended the University of Florida on a full gymnastic scholarship and then went on to receive her undergraduate degree in Nutrition from the State University College at Oneonta, New York in 1983. After completing an internship at Yale University Hospital and practicing as a Registered Dietician for several years, she shifted focus and attended Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. She received her law degree in 1992, magna cum laude, graduating second in her class. She was a member of the Law Review and a Dean’s Fellow, while also receiving numerous awards for academic excellence. Janet was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1993 and to the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York in 1994.

Janet is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Suffolk County Bar Association and the Surrogate’s Court, Elder Law and Estate Planning committees of Suffolk County Bar Association.


Janet has three grown sons and lives in Saint James with her husband of 30 years and their siberian husky, “Dempsey.” Janet is an active member of her local Parish where she is a member of the RCIA team, helping to guide individuals who have chosen to join the catholic faith as adults.
